Former Tata Sons Chairman Cyrus Mistry lost his life in a road accident near Palghar on Sunday. According to preliminary information, the car was running at high speed and while trying to overtake, it hit the divider. Both Cyrus Mistry and Jahangir, who lost their lives in the accident, were not even wearing seat belts. The injured were rushed to the hospital after the accident, but they breathed their last before that. After this incident, filmmaker Hansal Mehta has shared one such experience of his life with people through social media. Sharing a 30-year-old experience, Hansal Mehta said that if he had not worn a seat belt at that time, he would not be in this world today.

Hansal Mehta wrote on Twitter that, about 30 years ago when I was a boy, I was about 20 years old. It was at Fiji Island that I met with a fatal accident. My car left the road and fell down the hill. The car almost broke down. I was driving the car at speed. I was wearing a seat belt. Had I not survived that accident, my life would surely have been lost.

Hansal Mehta, while talking about his terrifying experience, further said that, from then on, I stopped driving at speed. I always wear a seat belt, even if I’m sitting in the back seat. I get worried if someone else sitting in the back seat is not wearing a seat belt. Better to be safe than sorry. There is no bravery in driving a car at speed.

On the work front, Hansal Mehta is acclaimed for his films like Shahid, Citylights, Aligarh etc. Apart from this, his web series Scam 1992 also proved to be a hit. Soon they are going to come up with another such web series. In the year 2014, he also received the National Award for Best Direction for the film Shahid. Recently he got married to Safina Hussain.

After the death of Cyrus Mistry, many people, including Hansal Mehta, have spoken openly about the importance of seat belts. Bollywood actress Dia Mirza has also appealed to people to wear seat belts. He said, I request you to wear seat belt. Teach this to your children too. It can save lives. Many celebs including Anupam Kher, Sunil Shetty, Boman Irani have mourned Cyrus Mistry’s demise.
