Born on December 8, 1935 in Punjab, Dharmendra’s full name is Dharam Singh Deol. His father was a teacher and being disciplined, Dharmendra never told his father that he (Dharmendra) wanted to be an actor. He had never seen a film till Dharmendra came in 8th standard, and it was only when he saw the film for the first time in 9th standard that he decided to enter the film line. According to media reports, Dharmendra first wanted to play the role of Thakur in the film show, which was later played by Sanjeev Kumar. Dharmendra played the role of Viru in Sholay which people still remember.

Now he will be seen in Anil Sharma’s film ‘Apne 2’ with family members and actors including grandfather Dharmendra and uncle Bobby Deol. In the project, he is seen sharing screen space with Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol and Dharmendra, while Karan acted as the second unit director in ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana 2’ released in 2013, which featured the trio.
