Amid ongoing controversy on social media over ‘The Kashmir Files’, actress Nandita Das has appealed to people to watch her film ‘Firaaq’. Sharing the link of the film on Twitter, Nandita wrote, “13 years ago, on this day, March 20, 2009, Firaq was released. Perhaps this film is more relevant today. If you haven’t seen it yet, please watch it on Amazon Prime or YouTube. Fear, prejudice and inequality are going on, but happiness and hope are maintained. ‘


It is worth mentioning that ‘Firaq’ directed by Nandit Das is based on the riots in Gujarat. The film stars Naseeruddin Shah, Sanjay Suri, Raghuveer Yadav, Dipti Naval, Paresh Rawal, Shahana Goswami, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Tisca Chopra, Dilip Joshi and Amrita Subhash in lead roles. When the film was released, it was also accused of spreading hatred towards Hindus.
