Ranbir Kapoor is returning to the silver screen after a long break of four years. After the corona epidemic, ‘Shamshera’ (Shamshera) has been released on 4350 screens in India and 5500 screens worldwide. The film, made on a budget of Rs 150 crore, was supposed to be released in December 2019, but due to the Corona epidemic, it has been released two and a half years late.

The story of ‘Shamshera’ is set in the fictional city of Kaja during the 18th century British era. When the people of the Khmeran tribe, who had been enmity with the Mughals during the Rajput period, came to Kaja to seek refuge, the upper castes did not accept them. Meanwhile, his Sardar Shamshera (Ranbir Kapoor) along with his accomplices started looting in Kaja to make a living. The people of Kaja sought help from the British court against the Khmeran caste. At that time the government sent the policeman Suddh Singh (Sanjay Dutt). He tricks Shamshera and his companions into slavery in Kaja’s fort.

After his divorce with Samantha, Naga Chaitanya’s life took a big turn, the actor himself said

Shamshera lays down his life in an effort to free his comrades. After which his story begins 25 years later, when his son Balli (Ranbir Kapoor), who looks just like Addal Shamshera, enters the field to fulfill his father’s dream. He also encounters Shuddha Singh. Will Balli be able to fulfill his father’s dream of freedom for the Khmeran race? You have to go to the theater to know this.

The director of the film, Karan Malhotra, has tried to make the film grand with the help of lavish sets, excellent cinematography, great background score and strong actors like Sanjay Dutt and Ranbir Kapoor. But alas the film suffers due to poor script, screenplay and dialogues. However, some scenes from pre-interval to climax leave the audience enthralled. But as the story of the film is stretched too much, it fails to hold the audience. Except for one or two, the rest of the songs seem to have been forced in.

Vijay Devarakonda did not escape the hawk eye of Ranveer Singh, wearing slippers at the event.

The three-quarter hour long film could have been cut by at least half an hour at the editing table. It would not be an exaggeration to call ‘Shamshera’ a cocktail of ‘Thugs of Hindustan’ and ‘KGF’. Ranbir Kapoor has done a great performance in this film, while Sanjay Dutt also plays the role of Shudh Singh. Vaani Kapoor has nothing special to do in the film except dance and romance. Saurabh Shukla and Ronit Roy also do justice to their characters.

Why watch?

If you are a huge fan of Ranbir Kapoor then you must go and watch the movie in theaters. You can wait for the release on the rest of the OTT platforms.
