the story
Kajol’s web series ‘The Trial’ has been in the news for some time now. It is based on the CBS hit show ‘The Good Wife’. The story is about Noyonica Sengupta, whose husband is accused of a sex scandal and is in jail. Noyonica starts practicing law for her husband. But will he be able to put his shattered life back on track as he battles in the courtroom? ‘The Trial’ is its own story.
Review
Director Suparna Verma has shown ‘The Trial: Pyaar, Kanoon, Dhokha’, different from other courtrooms, not just a story to solve a complex case. Instead, in this series, Noyonica Sengupta gives viewers a chance to dive deep into life. She was once a good lawyer, but later an incident happens in her life, which again puts her on a journey to start her career anew. Forgetting her earlier success as a lawyer, Noyonica starts a job at the most junior position in a popular firm of her friend (Ali Khan). As her husband’s high-profile case unfolds, Noyonica tries to strike a delicate balance between her personal and professional life.
The team of writers Abbal Dalal, Hussain Dalal, Siddharth Kumar and director Suparna Verma satirically portrays the current judicial system, the role of TV journalists and the way of working in a popular law firm through ‘The Trial’. From the courtroom to the living room of the house, the upcoming husband-wife fight has been realistically shown on the screen. However, the story lacks the required depth and seriousness. While the screenplay is also a victim of clichés. This can be a multi-layered story. Real-life hyperprofessional cases like Sushant Singh Rajput’s mysterious death, girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty’s hate, Juhi Chawla’s public interest plea against 5G technology are part of the case series, but are left loose.
Isha Ambani looked gorgeous in a traditional outfit at Shloka Mehta’s cousin’s Mundan ceremony.
Kajol’s acting is awesome
Cases involving controversial issues form part of the plot in the series. But the focus of the show is more on Noyonica and her struggles. Kajol has given a terrific performance as the ‘good wife’. The dignity with which she faces the upheaval within herself, has come across beautifully on screen. Kajol’s acting has also become tremendous with age, a glimpse of it is seen in the series. Kajol is the main attraction of the restrained estimate show. Apart from this, Jishu Sengupta, Ali Khan, Sheeba Chadda, Kubra Sait, Kiran Kumar and Gaurav Pandey have also given enough justice to their roles.
‘The Climax of The Trial’
You can guess what happens next while watching ‘The Trial’. The story takes a convenient twist from the climax, but there are some chances in the screenplay, which leave you shocked. However, the graph of the legal drama could have been improved with this great star cast
Why watch?
If you are interested in courtroom drama, legal maneuvers, if you are a fan of Kajol then this series is for you.
