Reema Kagti’s series revolves around the character of Sub-Inspector Anjali Bhati. She is investigating the recurring murders in Mandava, Rajasthan. The most unique thing about these murders is that the killers carry them out in public toilets. Prima facie it appears to be suicide rather than murder. But the dead bodies found one after another prove this serial killing. Not only this, this killer also has a particular pattern, which indicates that he has committed murders in the past as well. But what is the truth? Who is the murderer? Why is he doing this? The game between the killer and the police starts from the very first episode, which keeps the viewers hooked for eight episodes.
The series is produced by Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar. The screenplay is interesting, the intensity of the show does not diminish. It’s fun to see what goes through the killer’s mind, the extent to which he can be barbaric and the tricks he uses to save himself every time. Each episode is approximately 50-55 minutes in length. Caste discrimination is an underlying theme at the heart of the entire series. Anjali Bhati is not even allowed to enter upper class homes. There are many such scenes in the series, which make us realize that the country may be a ‘world power’ but discrimination still exists, which is unfortunate.
This crime drama series is interesting due to back to back incidents, revelations and power-packed performances. Sonakshi Sinha’s performance in the lead role is superb in terms of debut on OTT. He plays his character with utmost sincerity. Practicing martial arts, finding a suspect, etc. Gulshan Devaiah and Soham Shah have also done a great job in the roles of other officers. Vijay Varma sizzles every time he hits the screen. He also attracts attention as a middle-class married man.
Why watch this series? – ‘Dahad’ is a must watch for its interesting story, strong acting and crisp screenplay.
